Generation Underwriting Expands into Scotland 

The specialist regional MGA, backed by A rated capacity, has appointed Robertson, who has over 25 years industry experience, to take up the role of Underwriting Manager for Scotland and will be based in Glasgow. 

Greg Wilde, Managing Director of Generation previously worked with Robertson at MS Amlin: “I’m delighted to be working with Steven again as he has excellent relationships with our target brokers and a wealth of underwriting expertise not just in Scotland but also in the London Market. I personally have been involved in the Scottish market for almost 20 years launching and growing underwriting operations and it was one of my top priorities to continue to build Generation in a market that has so many opportunities. “

Robertson added: “Scotland has a thriving highly professional broking community but it’s fair to say that their needs aren’t always being catered for. We have witnessed a reduction in markets, decreased authority levels, a trend of forcing business down the e-trade or call centre route and as a result the broker experience and overall service levels have deteriorated. The opportunity to join Generation which is bucking that trend by deploying empowered underwriters into local regional markets couldn’t have been better timed. Brokers value relationships with businesses that can provide access to underwriters, trading locally with an advice led and service driven approach.”

Speaking about the development, Richard Willis, Managing Director of WF Risk Group said: “It’s just over six months since the acquisition of Generation Underwriting by WF Risk Group and this is the second expansion into a new territory by Generation. The overall group will continue to look for opportunities for growth and expansion by investing in businesses, new territories, and people. We are seeing strong growth in our underwriting business which is tracking at 25% and we have seen a clear demand from brokers for alternative market solutions whether that be via our wholesale or MGA businesses.  

Wilde added: “Our strategy is to rollout our business through the deployment of underwriters in local markets. We already have a strong presence in the North of England, but we want to continue that and grow our agency base throughout the UK. I’m now looking forward to renewing many old acquaintances across Scotland and to support Steven in growing our business in partnership with our brokers.”
